LEARN academy, a San Diego coding academy is making a big push to break down some barriers for women wanting to get into in the tech industry. They are running a new $4,000 scholarship fund for their upcoming November class starting on the 26th with to goal of getting more women into their coding program.
According to the Bureau of Labor, only 25% of computing occupations were held by women in 2015. Three years later, not much has changed.
“Helping more women get involved in the tech industry has always been a very important goal to me,” explains Chelsea Kaufman, CEO of LEARN academy. “With such a strong demand for developers, learning to code can help women become more empowered and allow them to take control of more career opportunities that are available.”
With over 250 graduates, LEARN has helped many women achieve their goals of becoming web developers, some of our rockstar women have moved on into roles at HP, Zeal, Lease Labs, House Call Pro, Parallel 6 and more.
